About Us

Our company was established in Scotland in 1955 originally as a supplier of hessian sacks serving the potato growing industry. Several acquisitions and diversification have broadened our customer base to all sectors of industrial and agricultural packaging.

In April 2005 S G Baker acquired John Lee (Sacks) Limited, a long established packaging company based in Grantham. This site has been substantially expanded and upgraded and now forms our England hub. Combined with our Angus, Scotland facility this enables us to service the UK market using our own vehicle fleet.

There are two divisions to our company:

Our Contractual Division represents six niche packaging markets: potatoes, rice, sugar, mail, sandbags and geotextiles. Our strategy is to provide quality assured packaging with FMCG levels of service against long term contracts.

Our Trading Division represents over 2000 customers ranging in size from large well know international companies who are leaders in their own field to sole traders.

Our UK stock comprises over 500 product lines and in addition we offer a bespoke manufacturing service.

A financially strong company with ISO9001 certified quality systems, our philosophy is to work with customers and using our skills base, develop innovative bespoke solutions to their packaging requirements.

Examples of our product innovations are:

• The Easi-Lift FIBC which offers huge advantages in safety and handling efficiency
• Our frictionally stable polypropylene bag which solves the practical and safety issue of bags slipping off the pallet
• Hessian and polypropylene bags for use on automated packing machinery
• Our mailbag that has a suspension system allowing it to hang in a frame
• Multi layer gravure printed bags for the highest standard of point of sale presentation
